I am passionate about yoga and helping people feel good. I used to run long distance and turned to yoga to help my very stiff muscles and lower back pain. I didn’t realise at that stage it would completely transform my life!
What I love about yoga is how it makes you feel; peaceful, centred, in the present moment and uplifted at the same time. I love how it can release emotions and open your heart.
I also love the spiritual aspect of it. Yoga means union, that is the union of your mind, body, breath and spirit. Through my practice it’s connected me to something bigger than myself; God, The Universe, Consciousness what ever you choose to call it.
My yoga journey began with Bikram which I enjoyed but it wasn’t until I discovered Hot Power Yoga (Vinyasa Flow in a warm room) in Clapham that I really understood what yoga was all about, it was a more spiritual, heart opening practice there.
Since then I have spent time living at the Sivananda Ashram in Kerala India learning their Hatha series and experiencing a full yogic life style. I have travelled around India extensively learning from different yoga teachers and I trained to teach Vinaysa Flow yoga in the foothills of the Himalayas. I have also been studying Yin yoga, with Norman Blair in London, which perfectly compliments the energetic practice of vinyasa flow. The focus of Yin is allowing and finding stillness in each pose, whilst rebalancing the meridian lines through the body.
I love the creativity, movement and use of breath in Vinyasa Flow and I love the still meditative quality of Yin. In all my classes I have a strong focus of heart opening, releasing emotions, acceptance and being present. I set intentions and share learnings about life through the class which are drawn from my life experience day to day, what I have learnt over the years as a life coach and through the months I have spent in India.
My intention is for my students to leave my classes feeling peaceful and content with open hearts.
I am also trained in trauma sensitive yoga which brings the therapeutic and mindfulness aspect of yoga to help heal sufferers of trauma and stress. My Yoga for a Peaceful Mind classes are based on this and my love of yin yoga.
After falling in love with Reiki healing on a personal level I chose to learn how to do it for myself in 2012 so that I could share it with others. I received my 1st and 2nd degree attunements to the Dr Mikao Usui system of Reiki, in Mcleod Ganj a town in the mountains of Northern India.
I love India with a passion; I think it’s a country that once it has got your heart it will hold it strongly for ever. I return there whenever I can to continue my learning.
I believe in the practice of selfless service, karma yoga, and volunteer each week at a cats home and a drop in centre for the homeless in Brighton and Hove.
Aside from yoga I enjoy my work as a life coach, hula hooping, paddle boarding, travelling and dancing.
